First Creative Day at the Hostel – Cameras, Ideas & Coffee
Nach ein paar Vorbereitungstreffen – Ideen sammeln, analysieren, Konzepte überlegen – ging’s endlich richtig los: unser erster kreativer Tag im Hostel.
Wir (die Studierenden, unsere Professorin Tatjana und ich) haben uns morgens im Hostel getroffen. Kein großer Plan, aber viele Ideen im Kopf. Also: Kaffee, kurze Absprache, wer was machen will – und los.
Eine Gruppe ist losgezogen in den Kiez, mit Kamera und offenen Augen. Ziel war, die Umgebung einzufangen – echte Eindrücke, keine gestellten Szenen. Später soll daraus ein kleines Video entstehen, das zeigt, wie’s hier wirklich aussieht. Nicht zu perfekt, aber genau deshalb spannend.
Die andere Gruppe ist im Hostel geblieben und hat dort gefilmt. Innenaufnahmen, Details, Stimmungen. Tatjana und Kathrin haben Texte aus dem Gästebuch vorgelesen – manche witzig, andere total berührend. Das war ein besonderer Moment, weil man gemerkt hat, wie viel von den Menschen hier bleibt, auch wenn sie längst weitergereist sind.
Der Tag war lang, aber die Stimmung gut. Zwischendurch wurde viel ausprobiert, gelacht, umgebaut, neu gedacht. Manches hat funktioniert, anderes nicht – aber genau darum ging’s ja auch. Einfach mal machen.
Am Ende hatten wir jede Menge Material, aber vor allem das Gefühl, dass was entsteht. Kein fertiges Produkt – eher ein Anfang. Und ein ziemlich guter.
After a few prep sessions – brainstorming, analyzing, coming up with ideas – it was finally time to get practical: our first creative day at the hostel.
We (the students, our professor Tatjana, and I) met up in the morning at the hostel. No strict schedule, just a lot of ideas in the air. So: coffee, a quick check-in on who wants to do what – and off we went.
One group headed out into the neighborhood, cameras in hand and eyes open. The goal was to capture the area around the hostel – real impressions, no staged shots. The idea is to cut a short video later that gives future guests a feel for the place. Not polished – but honest.
The other group stayed in the hostel and filmed indoors – little scenes, atmospheres, daily life. Tatjana and Kathrin read out entries from the guestbook – some funny, some really moving. That was actually one of the nicest moments, realizing how much of the guests’ stories still linger here even after they’ve gone.
The day was full – and fun. Lots of trying things out, changing plans, getting surprised by what worked (and what didn’t). But that was the whole point. Just do it.
By the end, we had tons of footage – but more importantly, the feeling that something had started. Not a finished product, but a good first step. Instagram
